Almost every student in the class began their passion project presentation with "At first I had no idea what to do" or "it took me a lot of thinking". I also was in that situation. I wanted to improve my track skills, but I procrastinated as usual, and missed out on that opportunity. Another thought of mine was photography, but then again, everyone else in the class had that thought too. I personally think everybody in the class could have thought more creatively in choosing a passion, especially myself.
I ended up choosing dance, which was already my passion. I definitely could have gone deeper into my interests to learn something new, but time was not on my side. I still put in a strong effort to complete my goals which was a left aerial, a press to handstand and five pirouettes consistently.
I started doing more ballet exercises, which is not my favourite, but it's really important. I worked on my balancing, strengthened my legs and my core. I did preps for each goal. For pirouettes, I would balance in retiré for as long as I could, and worked on my spotting. For my left aerial, I just practiced and practiced. For the press to handstand, I did a lot of preps against the wall, and did ab workouts regularly.
I could've done more, but I'm already busy with dance 3 days a week, and at the end of the school year it's always extremely busy. I'm proud of what I accomplished, and I will continue to work on these skills. I think this is a really good idea for a school project because it motivates people to do something they've always wanted to do but never got around to it.
